Sunday's Southern Swell

This weekend brought large waves to Oahu's Southern Shore, and it seemed as though everyone was checking it out. Yesterday, I posted up some photos of Ala Moana. Today I decided to check out the Surf at Waikiki and Diamond Head.

I got to Waikiki shortly after 9, and the regulars and tourist were already there. There was plenty of waves to share and few to party on. With the size of the crowd, it was obvious that there would be a lot of party waves.

Just before 11am, I made my way to Diamond Head. The Surf seemed pitiful from the shoreline. However, a few head high waves came through. The most excitement on the beach was a sign warning about the “Sleeping Seal” that was nowhere to be found. I guess the seal decided to leave. And on that note, I left.

I hope you enjoy the photos I took from this weekend and if you would like us to find you in the water and post your photos here on I am Hawaii. Leave a comment below. If the surf is big, I’ll be out next weekend documenting this summer’s Southern Swells.
