Favorite Book
John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, and Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead. With subtlety, finesse and brevity Steinbeck contrasts the simple, beautiful ideals of life against its uglier realities. In the first two books of the Ender's Game series, Card proved himself a master of plot and creativity. These three books evoked emotional and intellectual responses in me, gave me a down-to-your-nerves reaction that so few books do. I love them for it.

Most Memorable Book Read

Fiction or Non-fiction
Both. I enjoy narrative nonfiction that educates, and fiction that inspires creativity

What inspires me to write
When I read a good book, one that feels "fresh," or when I have a great conversation with an knowledgeable person, my head is swimming with a mingling of other peoples' ideas and my own. I muse on these fresh thoughts, embellish them and/or run with tangents.
